"Music, although in its making a very physical activity, transcends both the physical and verbal enabling it to comfort and heal in a remarkable way. This healing needs expertise to achieve its full effect; MusicSpace seeks to offer such expertise to those who need it." Jeffrey Tate, President of MusicSpace The MusicSpace trust is dedicated to the provision of therapy through music to damaged children and adults, and to providing a wider understanding of the benefits of music therapy in the UK . The MusicSpace trust is a unique concept which has evolved in response to the change towards community care by establishing centres for music therapy outside the more traditional settings of hospitals and schools. The first centre opened in Bristol in 1991. A second MusicSpace centre opened in Nottingham in 1995. In 1996 Hampshire MusicSpace was formed, based in Winchester . Other centres have since opened across the country including London , Liverpool and West Midlands . MusicSpace offers the provision of music therapy on a one-to-one or group basis in the community. It also provides assessments for potential clients, and workshops for carers and professionals. Dr Jeffrey Tate, CBE
